RE: It seems a boo boo every year!
There’s more than one way to skin a cat, here's the way I’d do it.
Buy a new 25-foot RV extension cord at Wal-Mart, cut and discard the female end, and use that as your new replacement cord. (IMO, a factory installed male end is always better than a replacement plug).
Next, put a replacement plug on the old cord and use that as necessary for an extension.
That's what I'd do. Jack
RE: Some People Are Clueless
Well call me crazy, but it doesn't look all THAT bad to me compared to what I've seen on the highway.
No, you aren't crazy. I don't think it looks all that bad, either. I have seen worse, and I have driven worse. Nobody died.
Ditto, Nice looking rig. He's probably within weight limits and with a good brake controller should be well in control.
RE: Two 6v and one 12v battery, possible ?
Batteries connected in parallel should always be of the same type, rating, manufacture, and approximately the same age. Connecting dissimilar batteries may produce undesirable or even dangerous results. Jack
Explain just how that can happen please.
Then I'll gladly tear your explanation apart for you.
Please read my above post, and then give it your best shot. Jack
RE: Two 6v and one 12v battery, possible ?
It has been my experience of 70 plus years, that when someone proclaims himself to be an expert on a subject you can disregard everything else he says.
Now, with that being said, here is a link to Deep Cycle Battery Frequently Asked Questions.
For those of you that think you already know everything about batteries and don't want to bother clicking on the link, I've added some quotes from the information below.
"If more ampere-hours are required, you can connect two (or more) new and identical 12-volt batteries in parallel. You can also connect two larger new and identical six-volt batteries in series by attaching the negative terminal of the first battery to the positive terminal of the second battery. If you connect two 12-volt batteries in parallel that are identical in type, age and capacity, you can potentially double the total capacity. If you connect two that are not the same type, you will either overcharge the smaller of the two, or you will undercharge the larger of the two.
The recommended parallel and series connections are as follows:

When connected this way, the batteries will discharge and recharge equally. When connecting in series or parallel and to prevent recharging problems, do not mix old and new batteries or ones of different types. Cable lengths should be kept short and cable must be sized large enough to prevent significant voltage drop; there should be a maximum of 0.2 volts (200 millivolts) or less drop between batteries."
RE: Need help on 5th Wheel Clearance
Armbuster, I believe you to be a person that likes the way things look.
Tall trucks with big tires look strong, but 5th wheel trailers with four or six inch steel tubing welded to the frame along with the axles flipped look horrible. I know, I have seen a couple like that and my first impression is they look unstable and very ugly since you can stand flatfooted and see all the underneath parts.
If at all possible, try to find one that's been modified and take a look for yourself.
Best Regards, Jack

RE: Walking on the roof??
Even though my 5th wheel has a factory installed ladder, the owners manual specifically says not to walk on the roof unless your weight is supported by a piece of 3/8 inch plywood four feet long.
RE: Tire pressure on TV
I believe there are many that over-think tire pressure requirements.
Open the driver's door and follow the manufacture's recommendations that are placed around the door edge. Engineers are paid big dollars to make these air pressure calculations for the best overall safety and performance for your particular truck.
Propane Servicing
Whenever I have my propane bottles serviced, I remove them from the
fifth-wheel and set them down near the propane servicing area. No one
ever told me that the bottles must be removed from the trailer, I just assumed they did.
After watching a Class C Motorhome pull right-up and connect directly to the propane fill hose, got me to thinking. Have I been scraping my knuckles and lifting those heavy bottles for the last twenty years for nothing?
Does anyone one know if there is a requirement to remove them for filling?

RE: NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have some of you considered she may be yelling for help?
I do have a suggestion for you choclabmom3. Is it possible that your husband may have installed those slide-out bars that wedge in each end of the slide to keep it secure while traveling, and you haven't removed them? Jack :@
RE: Leak Repair Question...Would you settle for this
Would you settle for this solution?
Absolutely not! After a few years, or less, the silicone will look horrible and will definitely lower the trade-in or resale value of your trailer. The first thing a knowledgeable buyer would notice is the trailer has or had a window leak that was improperly fixed and then would immediately become suspect of the sidewall and floor under the window.
Insist that it be repaired using original factory methods.
Shame on your dealer and Keystone for making what should have been a happy experience for you and your family into this type of shabby treatment.
Good luck, it's my guess the service manager will be of very little help to you and is hoping you will go away, I think you need to be talking or writing to the owner. Jack
RE: Tripod Question
I think the tripod is worthwhile and does a nice job in stabilizing our 5th wheel, although, I usually don't bother setting it up if we're going to be moving on in three days or less. Jack
RE: How Long Do You Keep your Unit
We bought a new 28' 5th wheel in 1987 and kept it for 18 years, replaced it with a 32' double slide model that should serve us well for an equally long time. Jack
RE: Bubbles in rubber roof: normal?
I know one thing, never poke a hole in a none leaking roof to glue a bubble down.
An RV dealership that I visited had a cut-away of a K-Z roof structure. I noticed the rubber was glued to the wood part of the roof, but the rounded edge of the roof that meets the side wall is metal, the covering was tightly stretched over it, but not glued.

Maybe you saw me!
I was the guy with the ‘three wheel’, 5th wheel trailer, sitting along side I-40, 30 miles east of Gallup, NM on Monday afternoon from around 12:30 to 4:30.
After traveling several miles through a fairly narrow construction zone with some side winds and uneven asphalt, I would occasionally get the right side trailer tires in the rumble strip. After we were clear of the construction zone, I settled- in to have a nice enjoyable drive, within a few minutes I was passed by a trucker only to have him slow considerably. My first thought was, this isn't good, I pulled along side and rolled down the passenger window, he hollered over and told the DW that we lost a wheel about three miles back. I pulled over to find the right rear wheel gone.

Notice the wheel studs sheared-off smooth with the brake drum.

Construction zone.
The good parts of this experience: A helpful Trucker, cell phone service, I'm a Good Sam member (even though not covered by their emergency road service, a nice lady by the name of Paula still made arrangements with a mobile mechanic to provide assistance), no structural damage to the trailer, and last, but not least, I was able to watch a continuous parade of NASCAR Trailers heading east after leaving the race at Las Vegas.
Reward for the return of the lost tire and wheel, which I never did find. Jack
RE: Cabin Fever Fix - picture posting - 81 days Until Spring!
Our summer weekends are spent traveling with the Montana 'Missoula Lady Osprey' U16 fast-pitch softball team. Our son-in-law and daughter are coach and coordinator for the team, and granddaughter is a player.
Many of the parents and grandparents dry-camp in their RVs and usually stay Friday thru Sunday. It's a great time and enjoyed by all. :) Jack

RE: Accordion Requests Anyone?
There are many wonderful songs that may be played on an accordion, in addition to those already mentioned, I'd like to add a few to the request list. They are; Jambalaya, Yellow Rose of Texas, Grand Old Flag, Three coins In The Fountain, Red Wing, and last you might play "Till I Waltz Again With You'. Thank's, I love accordion music, and BTW,I put your tip in the mail. :W
